We provide in person counselling services for individuals, children and adolescents, coparents, couples, and families in Miramichi, New Brunswick. We also provide virtual services throughout New Brunswick if you’re further away, or simply prefer to see us from wherever you happen to be.

We provide one on one therapy in person in Miramichi, or virtually anywhere in New Brunswick. We’re trained in helping people work through a variety of issues including:

Kids today face more challenges than ever before. We provide support, counselling, and treatment to kids, along with support and parent coaching for their worried parents. Children under 13 don’t respond well to “talk therapy” alone. Which is why we work with a variety of tools, games, activities, and interventions to help kids engage and learn through play and meaningful activities. For this reason, we work with children in person in our office in Miramichi, New Brunswick. Older kids and teens have the option of in person sessions (where they may also choose to engage with art or other activities) or online if they are able to focus and have privacy during sessions.

We’re here to support worried parents struggling with parenting challenges, your child’s mental health needs, behavioural difficulties, emotional regulation, trauma, adjustment, school, friend and dating (eek!) issues, as well as identity and self esteem struggles.

We use a variety of approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy, trauma informed care, play and art therapy approaches and approaches that help children learn to regulate the big feelings. We also support parents with parent counselling and coaching, as well as parenting groups that we run based on identified need in the community.

We provide informed and evidence based counselling and intervention services for children, adults, and parents that respect the unique neurodiversity of the individual and family. Under no circumstances do we provide ABA therapy for Autism as we firmly believe these interventions to be harmful to children.

Please note that we do not provide formal assessments or diagnosis. Our work is focused on understanding and addressing needs and helping the individual in their environment. A formal diagnosis isn’t required to access services. We recognize that the diagnostic system is flawed, and not everyone meets the “criteria.” If you or someone you care about is struggling to manage a neurodiverse brain in a neurotypical world, we can help.

Newly diagnosed, questioning, children, parents, adults, or in a relationship with a neurospicy person, our goal is to help you learn new skills to thrive and adapt to the neurodiversity in your family or yourself. We focus on affirming and recognizing the differences and strengths that different brains have. We work on understanding the differences, needs, processing, and strengths of the neurodiverse person, and helping you make changes to your expectations and environment that will help your and your family succeed.

You’re probably wondering what you’re doing here looking for counselling. Because therapy isn’t for you. It’s just a bunch of talk about feelings and how is that going to help? We know that men have unique needs, perspectives, and asking for help (or even acknowledging they need help) is pretty much the opposite of everything you’ve been taught. Suck it up, move on. It’s fine, you’re fine, everything’s just fine. Right?

We know this is weird and you’re kind of suspicious of how talking about stuff can help. That’s why we approach our work with men differently. We’re straight talking and solution focused. We aren’t going to ask you questions like, “How does that make you feel?” Unless you really want us to. We collaborate, counsel, and coach. Working with you to figure out what’s getting in the way or not working in your life. We’ll help you identify the feelings that impact your thinking and behaviour, and coach you to learn new ways to understand and deal with it. Now and in the future.

If you don’t know where to start, or your partner told you to go counselling “or else” and you don’t know why, that’s okay. You’re in the right place. We’re going to ask about what’s working and what isn’t, and we’ll figure out together what you want to change, your goals, and how you know when you’re meeting them. Counselling, collaborating, coaching. Whatever you want to call it, we’re here to help.

We provide services to parents and kids at every stage of separation, divorce, and coparenting. We provide clinical counselling services to parents (separately or together) and children over the age of 6, regardless of where you’re at in the process. We also work with coparents who have never resided together or had a very short term relationship and are now coparenting.

We also provide forensic and court involved services, as well parental alienation services and reunification counselling. This includes consulting with parent and counsel on how to best present and manage evidence in the court process to ensure the court understands the dynamic of one parent deliberately alienating a child from the other.
